The National Monuments Service's description
Under hazel scrub on an E-facing slope c. 100m W of the Rathborney River, within a multiperiod field system (CL005-014001-). Westropp (1901, 277) noted it as overgrown, ‘much levelled’ and ‘confused by modern walls’. He also noted that a possible translation of the townland name ‘slope of the quarrel’ might be related to the ‘cahers’ (ibid.) in this townland.
A poorly preserved, sub-circular, bivallate cashel (est. orig. ext. diam. c. 43m; int. diam. 24.6m N-S) defined by an inner wall (Wth 1.5-3.4m; int. H 0.2-0.7m; ext. H 0.6-1.1m), a fosse (Wth 2-2.5m) and a second, outer wall (Wth 3m; H 0.6-1m). The inner wall survives from NW-SE while the outer wall only survives from NE-SW. Facing stones (av. H 0.25m) survive in both walls but are best preserved (max. H 1m) in the outer wall from NE to SW.
The interior contains a rectangular house site, orientated N-S, in the N-half and a trackway and later wall traverse the site SSE-NNW.
