The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in rough grazing at the base of a N-facing slope, on the N-S ridge E of the Caher valley. A second wedge tomb (CL005-013002-) is located c. 35m ENE.
A collapsed wedge tomb that was not located on inspection in 1998. It was recorded by the Megalithic Survey (de Valera and Ó Nualláin 1961, 3) as ‘completely collapsed’ and as consisting of two sidestones with straight top edges, a capstone and three further recumbent slabs of unknown function. The capstone was described as an irregularly shaped slab (L 3.85m; T 0.1) that overlay the N sidestone (L2.9m; Wth at W 1.2m; Wth at E 1.25m; T 0.15-0.2m). The S sidestone (L 4.2m; Wth at W 1.3m; Wth at E 1.1m; T 0.15-0.2m) lay on one of the recumbent slabs (L 1.1m) and the remaining two recumbent slabs (L 1.85m & 2.4m) lay partially concealed in the ground W of the chamber.
Robinson (1977) marks the ‘hoofmarks of the Glas Ghaibhneach cow’, of the legendary smith Lon Mac Liofa, just SE of here.
