The National Monuments Service's description

On a shelf of a W-facing slope on the NW slopes of Slieve Elva, with extensive views to the W. Listed as ‘Enclosure (possible)’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). A poorly preserved, largely robbed-out subcircular cashel (ext. dims. 23.8m NE–SW; 20.3m NW–SE) defined by a stone spread (Wth 2–2.5m; H 0.6–0.8m) with external facing-stones visible around its full circumference but with very few inner facing-stones. At the NW where some potential inner facing-stones are visible it appears the wall is 1.2m thick. A substantial drystone wall (Wth 1m; H 1m) runs SW–NE across the NW sector.
This cashel lies within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL004-016001-), covering an area of c. 8sq km. Another cashel (CL004-016014-), also within that field system, is located c. 90m to the NNE.
