The National Monuments Service's description
On a flat terrace of a steep NW-facing slope with extensive views from WSW to NE over lower ground and Galway Bay. Overlooked by higher ground to S and E. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). Not marked on the 1842 ed. of the OS 6-inch map but hachured on the 1915 ed. A well-preserved roughly circular enclosure (int. dims. 21m N–S; 23.4m E–W) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 4m; int. H 1.7m) from NNE to WSW and a steep scarp (H 1.5–1.7m) from WSW to NNE. The interior is highest near the SE bank, but otherwise relatively flat. This ringfort lies in the SW extent of an extensive multiperiod field system (CL004-016001-), covering an area of c. 8km.
