The National Monuments Service's description

A low-lying pass (c. 250') between Abbey Hill to the W and Slieve Oughtmama to the SE (800') and a natural routeway N-S. Named ‘Corker Pass’ on the 1915 ed. of the 6-inch OS map. Named ‘Corker Pass’ and ‘the ancient Carcair na gCléireach’ on Robinson’s map (1997). In 1599, O’Donnell’s forces are recorded to have passed by Corcomoe and then by Carcair na gCléirach to the NE (AFM, vol. 6, p. 2103). Carcair na gCléirach may be translated as either the cleric’s rock or the cleric’s place of confinement. Listed as 'Potential site - name' in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). An ancient routeway now traversed by a modern road. To the S it forms the border between Abbey East and Oughtmama Tds., but to the N, as it reaches its highest point and starts to descend again, it cuts into Abbey East and Rossalia Tds.
