Prominently sited on top of a low NE–SW ridge from which ground falls away gently across the road to NW and slightly more steeply away to SE, in an area of good quality meadowland. Indicated on the 1842 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as an enclosure of c. 95m diameter but not on the 1915 ed.
A poorly preserved enclosure traceable from SE to NW and from NNW to NNE. It is defined by a gentle scarp with a later path running along its top from SE to SSW and a low narrow-topped earthen bank from SSW to NW and from NNW to NNE. A gap (Wth 6m) just S of W is likely a later feature associated with the construction of the 19th-century vault just inside the enclosure. The construction of the adjacent road appears to have encroached on the NW edge and a later straight field wall extends NW-SE over the E limits.
A medieval church (CL002-014002-), graveyard (CL002-014003-) and shell midden (CL002-014004-) occur in its interior and a rath (CL002-015----) lies c. 15m to the S.
