The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a low spur that projects from a steeply rising W-facing slope, overlooking the Caher River and its entry into the sea. Named ‘Cathair Rois’ on Robinson’s map of the Burren (1977) and listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). An almost circular cashel (int. dims. 32m N–S; 31m E–W) now defined by a modern drystone wall. The 1840 OS map depiction has straight N, E and W sides with definite corners. Occasional, large stones at foundation level and possible facing-stones, just E of N, suggest an original wall thickness of 1.5m. A trapezoidal field enclosure (30m N–S; Wth 24m at N; Wth 43m at S) containing an 18th/19th rectangular house foundation (CL001-012002-) abuts the S side of the cashel and a turf stand (CL001-016007-) overlooks it from c. 60m to the S.
