Historique
La forge, bâtie en 1878 et restaurée dans ses dispositions d'origine, a conservé toutes ses structures et son outillage de forge marine ainsi que sa cheminée. La façade principale a été modifiée dans les années 1960 afin de permettre l'installation d'une potence utilisée pour le transport des pièces lourdes. L'appentis à l'arrière a, quant à lui, été agrandi. Elle représente l'unique témoin du mode de vie des années 1920, de l'industrie de maintenance des bateaux et de la fabrication d'outils alors indispensables aux îliens. Elle sert aujourd'hui d'atelier pédagogique.

History
The forge, built in 1878 and restored to its original arrangements, has retained all its structures and its marine forge equipment as well as its chimney. The main façade was modified in the 1960s to allow the installation of a hoist used for transporting heavy pieces. The lean-to at the rear was enlarged. It represents the unique testimony to the way of life of the 1920s, of the boat maintenance industry and of the manufacture of tools then essential to islanders.
