Ferdinand Fillod met au point, dès 1928, un système de préfabrication de bâtiments métalliques breveté en 1929, sorte de mur sandwich constitué de deux plaques de tôle, rempli de matière isolante, a fonction de mur porteur et étant assemblé par emboîtement. CMF développe une version alternative aux constructions à parois inclinées. Dotée d'une double toiture permettant une meilleure ventilation, elle est destinée aux zones tropicales et connaîtra un vif succès dans les années 1960. Le modèle réunionnais a été commandé et monté vers 1960 par la Sucrière d'Outre-Mer pour abriter les bureaux des cadres de l'usine.
