Historique
L'industriel administrateur de domaine sucrier, Joseph-Antoine Sosthène de Châteauvieux, décide en 1860 d'édifier une église à la gloire du Sacré Cœur, sur sa propriété des Colimaçons. Église d'un plan classique en croix latine édifiée en cinq ans, consacrée en 1866. Construction terminée en 1875 par la mise en place d'un dôme sur le clocher. Style néo-roman mêlé à du néo-Renaissance. Église en partie ruinée par un cyclone en 1928. Reconstruite dès 1928 avec les pierres d'origine, mais la charpente en bois a été remplacée par une charpente métallique. Nouvelle consécration en 1930.

History
The industrialist administrator of sugar estates, Joseph-Antoine Sosthène de Châteauvieux, decided in 1860 to build a church to the glory of the Sacred Heart, on his property of the Colimaçons. Church of a classical Latin cross plan built in five years, consecrated in 1866. Construction completed in 1875 by the placement of a dome on the bell tower. Style Neo-Romanesque mixed with Neo-Renaissance. Church partly ruined by a cyclone in 1928. Rebuilt in 1928 with the original stones, but the wooden roof structure was replaced by a metal roof structure. New consecration in 1930.
