L'usine centrale a été créée en 1869 sur le site de l'ancienne habitation-sucrerie de Jean D'Arboussier, et fonctionne jusqu'en 1980. De cette friche industrielle, après un démontage quasi total, reste essentiellement le grand bâtiment administratif. Un noyau central, en brique et structure métallique, est entouré d'une galerie périphérique en béton, dans une composition très symétrique. Des lames horizontales en béton armé ceinturent le bâtiment sur ses deux niveaux, jouant un rôle décoratif, protecteur et homogénéisateur de l'ensemble des façades. Le garde-corps périphérique est composé de deux tubes ronds. La façade avant présente des arrondis de galerie, un frontispice circulaire qui permet de masquer la forme de la toiture.

History
The central factory was created in 1869 on the site of the former sugar-plantation estate of Jean D'Arboussier, and operated until 1980. From this industrial wasteland, after virtually complete dismantling, what essentially remains is the large administrative building. A central core, in brick and metal structure, is surrounded by a peripheral gallery in concrete, in a highly symmetrical composition. Horizontal strips of reinforced concrete encircle the building on its two storeys, playing a decorative, protective and homogenizing role for all the façades. The peripheral handrail is composed of two round tubes. The front façade presents rounded gallery ends, a circular frontispiece which serves to conceal the roof form.
