It was probably Jean-Pierre Fidelin who created the pottery shortly after 1760. The Fidelins are one of the oldest families of creoles in Guadeloupe. The pottery produced essentially sugar forms and their corresponding pots, used for the refining of sugar. Each sugar refinery possessed over 2,000 of them. The activity lasted from 1760 to 1860, before turning towards the production of clove wood. Today there remain the walls in elevation of the pottery, the mass of two kilns, a cistern, the remains of a beast-mill, and several unidentified ruined buildings.
