Historique
La décision d'édification d'un hôtel de ville sous le mandat de Léon Eyrolles (1929-1935) marque l'autonomie de Cachan après sa scission d'avec Arcueil. La construction est confiée à l'architecte communal René Chaussat auquel sont adjoints Jean-Baptiste Mathon et Joannès Chollet. L'édifice est inauguré en 1935 et se compose de volumes de briques couverts de toits terrasses et s'articulant autour d'un beffroi. L'ensemble est constitué d'une ossature en béton armé, d'un remplissage et d'un parement de briques jaune clair de Champigny. Les ferronneries sont dues à Borderel et Robert. La distribution intérieure d'origine est reprise à l'extérieur par un traitement de chaque façade.

History
The decision to build a town hall under the mandate of Léon Eyrolles (1929-1935) marks Cachan's autonomy following its split from Arcueil. The construction was entrusted to the municipal architect René Chaussat to whom Jean-Baptiste Mathon and Joannès Chollet were added. The building was inaugurated in 1935 and consists of brick volumes covered with flat roofs articulating around a belfry. The whole comprises a reinforced concrete frame, infill and facing of light yellow brick from Champigny. The ironwork is by Borderel and Robert. The original interior distribution is taken up on the exterior by a treatment of each façade.
