The first hall was built in the 16th century, next to the collegiate church of Saint-Denis. The building was rebuilt in the same location around 1567. Under the administration of the Mazarins, it became a sort of seigneurial hotel, combining its original function as a hall with that of seat of justice and prison, and that of administration of the county. During the Revolution, it housed the administration of the district, then the sub-prefecture in year VIII. In 1827, the city purchased it and installed the college there. Between 1845 and 1847, work was carried out by architect Diogène Poisat. The roof and first floor were completely rebuilt, and the ground floor in part. The building became an application school of the teacher training college in 1880, then a teacher training college until 1910, the year it became a primary school again. The building is of rectangular plan, with four wings around a courtyard. It comprises, besides a partial basement, a ground floor, a first floor and an attic storey.
