History
The building is part of one of the islands planned by Vauban within the new fortified town of Belfort, built from 1687 onwards. The building was probably constructed between 1728 and 1742. It follows the prescriptions for alignment, elevation and decoration of façades specific to a stronghold. It consists of a main dwelling on the street, crossed by a coach passageway leading to an interior courtyard with stables. After the destruction caused by the siege of 1870-1871, comprehensive interior remodelling of the main dwelling, where the decoration of the first floor stands out, in 18th-century style, with parquets, some of which are inlaid.
