La tradition fait remonter la fondation d'une église sous le vocable de Notre-Dame au 6e siècle. Le domaine qui lui est associé, est administré par un chapitre, conférant à l'ensemble le statut de prieuré qu'il gardera jusqu'à la Révolution. L'église actuelle pourrait dater du 13e siècle pour les murs de la nef et le clocher ; du 15e siècle pour le voûtement de la nef ; du 16e siècle pour les voûtes du choeur et la chapelle latérale. L'église semble ne pas avoir été transformée avant le 18e siècle avec quelques travaux de réfection ou d'aménagement. Caractéristique des églises du Gâtinais, construites en marge du domaine royal et sensibles à l'influence artistique de celui-ci, l'église présente un plan rectangulaire désaxé avec une nef à un collatéral, sur lequel est aligné l'imposant clocher-porche. Le portail occidental, qui s'inscrit dans un arc d'ogive à double voussure, montre les traces de dispositions plus anciennes. Le choeur, voûté d'ogive avec liernes à nervures prismatiques, est séparé de la nef par un arc triomphal orné de moulures.

History
Tradition traces the foundation of a church under the dedication of Notre-Dame to the 6th century. The domain associated with it is administered by a chapter, conferring on the whole the status of priory which it retained until the Revolution. The present church could date from the 13th century for the walls of the nave and the bell tower; from the 15th century for the vaulting of the nave; from the 16th century for the vaults of the choir and the lateral chapel. The church seems not to have been transformed before the 18th century with some repairs or fitting-out works. Characteristic of churches of the Gâtinais, built at the margins of the royal domain and sensitive to its artistic influence, the church presents a disaxed rectangular plan with a nave with one aisle, on which is aligned the imposing porch tower. The western portal, which is set within a double-voussure pointed arch, shows traces of earlier dispositions. The choir, vaulted with ogives with liernes with prismatic ribs, is separated from the nave by a triumphal arch ornamented with mouldings.
