La chapelle Saint-Baudel date de la première moitié du 16ème siècle. Elle fut vraisemblablement construite pour accueillir la messe pendant l'édification du choeur de l'église Saint-Serge-et-Saint-Bach voisine. Vendue à la Révolution, elle servit de salle pour le catéchisme, de grange, de salle de tir, etc. Suite à sa récente restauration par la mairie, elle est devenue un lieu culturel accueillant expositions et concerts. History
The chapel of Saint-Baudel dates from the first half of the 16th century. It was probably built to accommodate mass during the construction of the choir of the neighbouring church of Saint-Serge-et-Saint-Bach. Sold at the Revolution, it served as a catechism room, barn, shooting range, etc. Following its recent restoration by the local authority, it has become a cultural venue hosting exhibitions and concerts. Small in size, it houses a magnificent panelled and painted ceiling. Situated at the gates of Puisaye where Protestant households lived, the chapel is characteristic of this region, with its ferruginous sandstone rubble stone. Its ceiling is panelled. In 1533, the episcopal see of Auxerre was occupied by François II de Dinteville, who had returned from Rome in the company of painters who decorated several churches in the diocese, including probably the chapel of Pourrain. Above the chevet wall, the vault is ornamented with a representation of two angels carrying the house of the Virgin. There are also vegetative ornaments including vine tendrils.
