Historique
En 1894, pour pallier les problèmes d'alimentation en eau, la commune décide de rehausser le bassin-lavoir et de l'équiper d'une éolienne Auguste Bollée pour l'amener en eau. Un escalier métallique hélicoïdal donne accès à la plate-forme supérieure protégée par un garde-corps à volutes. L'hélice principale est dotée d'une girouette qui permet l'orientation en fonction du vent. Une petite hélice à pâles libres permet de neutraliser le mécanisme en cas de tempête. Les travaux s'achèvent en 1897. L'éolienne a fonctionné jusqu'en 1939. L'éolienne est l'une des trois dernières éoliennes Bollée à mât haubanné subsistant dans l'Yonne. Elle est l'un des derniers exemplaires des machines de pompage installées entre les années 1880 et 1930. En 1925, le projet de reconstruction de la mairie porte à édifier une surélévation par-dessus le lavoir existant, dont les travaux s'achèvent en 1931.

History
In 1894, to remedy water supply problems, the commune decided to raise the basin-lavoir and equip it with an Auguste Bollée windmill to bring water to it. A helical metal staircase provides access to the upper platform protected by a balustrade with scrollwork. The main helix is fitted with a weather vane which allows orientation according to the wind. A small helix with free blades allows the mechanism to be neutralised in the event of a storm. The work was completed in 1897. The windmill operated until 1939. The windmill is one of the three last Bollée windmills with guyed mast surviving in the Yonne. It is one of the last examples of pumping machines installed between the 1880s and 1930s. In 1925, the project to rebuild the town hall involved erecting a superstructure above the existing lavoir, the work for which was completed in 1931.
