L'ocrerie de Sauilly est une des derniers vestiges de l'activité ocrière de l'Auxerrois. Cette entreprise familiale, créée dans le deuxième quart du 19e siècle, est restée en activité jusqu'en 1961. Usine construite entre 1825 et 1838 (four) , modernisée en 1840 (meule à bras). Installation d'une machine à vapeur en 1858. Installation de l'électricité (transformateur) en 1926. C'est l'illustration d'un patrimoine industriel, rural et technologique spécifique à la Puisaye, le seul conservé dans son état d'origine avec une lecture encore possible des circuits de fabrication des différentes qualités de l'ocre, de la production et de la diffusion (magasins de stockage, usine de traitement, séchoirs, bassin de décantation, fours de séchage, quais d'embarquement, ...).

History
The Sauilly ochre works is one of the last vestiges of ochre-working activity in the Auxerrois region. This family enterprise, created in the second quarter of the 19th century, remained in operation until 1961. Factory constructed between 1825 and 1838 (kiln), modernized in 1840 (hand mill). Installation of a steam engine in 1858. Installation of electricity (transformer) in 1926. It is an illustration of industrial, rural and technological heritage specific to Puisaye, the only one preserved in its original state with still legible understanding of the circuits for manufacturing different qualities of ochre, production and distribution (storage warehouses, treatment factory, drying rooms, decanting basin, drying kilns, loading quays, ...).
