History
The spinning mill was built in 1891 by the Géliot company. It comprised 458 looms with 58,000 spindles and two steam engines and employed more than 800 workers. The Géliot firm, whose establishment by its founder Nicolas Géliot at Plainfaing dates from 1835, was then among the leading textile firms of the Vosges. The construction of the factory with its workers' housing transformed the hamlet into a small industrial town.
