En juillet 1961, le docteur Pierre Gauthier acquérait la Tête-de-Saint-Roch pour y construire une maison d'habitation supervisée par son beau-père, Jean Prouvé. Bâtie en panneaux d'aluminium strié, la maison marque l'évolution constructive en jouant sur l'idée de noyau et de panneaux porteurs. Le noyau groupant salle d'eau, salle de bains et cuisine forme l'élément porteur principal pour les supports de toiture, fers en U couchés sur poteaux. Les façades sont elles-mêmes porteuses par l'emploi de panneaux à cadre métallique rigide. A l'ouest, s'étend une partie fermée avec chambres, bureau et un vaste séjour. L'ensemble est couvert de panneaux en aluminium moulé en arêtes, formant auvent pour abriter l'accès de l'avant-corps. La toiture défilée préserve les vues sur les arbres de l'arrière-plan.

History
In July 1961, Doctor Pierre Gauthier acquired the Tête-de-Saint-Roch to build a house there supervised by his father-in-law, Jean Prouvé. Built in panels of striated aluminium, the house marks the evolution in construction by playing on the idea of core and load-bearing panels. The core grouping washroom, bathroom and kitchen forms the main load-bearing element for roof supports, U-irons laid on posts. The façades are themselves load-bearing through the use of panels with rigid metal frames. To the west, extends a closed section with bedrooms, office and a vast living room. The whole is covered with panels in moulded aluminium with ridged edges, forming a canopy to shelter the entrance of the front section. The stepped roof preserves views of the trees in the background.
