Immeuble spécialement réalisé à l'usage du Cercle, entre 1875 et 1877. L'architecte n'est pas connu avec certitude. Quelques informations laissent présumer une intervention d'un des frères Tourniol. L'immeuble a été traité de façon à combiner l'immeuble-îlot à la Haussmann, de plan triangulaire avec un soubassement entresolé à boutiques, et le modèle du palais urbain italien. A l'intérieur, les différents salons sont distribués autour d'un noyau central. La décoration conserve son caractère éclectique en styles Louis XV et Louis XVI. La salle la plus originale est un jardin d'hiver, adjonction de 1889-1890, construit en encorbellement sur une charpente métallique du côté de la cour, et éclairé par un dôme de verre et une large verrière ornementale ornée des allégories de la Peinture et de la Sculpture. Les boiseries laquées sont rehaussées de frises de barbotines en porcelaine, de production limougeaude, alternant masques bachiques et rinceaux d'acanthe à pivoine et putti. En 2026, vol et dégradation d'une trentaine de plaques de porcelaine émaillée dans le jardin d'hiver, ainsi que de la plaque ornant le manteau de la cheminée de la bibliothèque. History
Building specially constructed for the use of the Cercle, between 1875 and 1877. The architect is not known with certainty. Some information suggests the involvement of one of the Tourniol brothers. The building was designed to combine the Haussmann-style island block, with triangular plan and an entresol basement with shops, and the model of the Italian urban palace. Inside, the various rooms are arranged around a central core. The decoration retains its eclectic character in Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. The most original room is a winter garden, an addition of 1889-1890, built in cantilever on a metal roof structure on the courtyard side, and lit by a glass dome and a large ornamental glazed roof decorated with allegories of Painting and Sculpture. The lacquered woodwork is enhanced with friezes of slip-cast ceramics, of Limoges production, alternating Bacchic masks and acanthus rinceaux with peony and putti. In 2026, theft and damage to around thirty enamelled ceramic plaques in the winter garden, as well as to the plaque adorning the mantelpiece of the library.
