Historique

History
The château was built in the late 1780s. From 1870-1880 onwards, the new owners undertook works of improvement and development of the estate: creation of a reserve to the south, construction of the current outbuildings to the east (stables) and to the west (orangery) and, in 1889, construction of a hydraulic network and creation of a park. The hydraulic structure, carried out by engineers Biot, Dutheil et Cie, consists of a main fountain, capture aqueducts marked by 18 inspection chambers of which three masonry wells connected to each other by an underground gallery allowing a man to access it. A reservoir situated in the former vegetable garden allows water supply to the château, the reserve and the ornamental basin of the garden. The creation of the park was entrusted to Henri Nivet Jeune. He created a mixed garden inscribed in the style of transition between the landscape garden and the return to the formal garden. The curved lines of the irregular garden are organised around the château, placed at the centre of the composition. In the axis of the south-west façade, the formal garden is composed of a lawn parterre whose centre is occupied by an ornamental basin. In the 1960s-1970s, the landscape garden was gradually abandoned in favour of agricultural exploitation.
