Historique
La basilique fut réalisée en 1884 selon les plans de l'architecte Perlat, remplacé par alcide Boutaud. La nef et les cloîtres latéraux sont achevés en 1895 et les verrières du chœur signées du maître verrier Georges Lavergne sont en place. L'autel est dessiné et réalisé par Georges Rouzeau. A la mort de l'abbé Jouanneau, initiateur du projet, les travaux sont interrompus définitivement en 1899. La basilique reflète certains procédés utilisés par l'architecte Boutaud comme le contraste intérieur-extérieur ou la dématérialisation des plans muraux. Elle est à nef unique avec un plan dédoublé au sol et une série de chapelles latérales. A l'extérieur, la basilique présente un clocher-porche caractéristique du style de l'architecte

History
The basilica was realised in 1884 according to the plans of architect Perlat, replaced by Alcide Boutaud. The nave and lateral cloisters are completed in 1895 and the stained glass windows of the choir signed by master glass-maker Georges Lavergne are in place. The altar is designed and executed by Georges Rouzeau. At the death of the abbé Jouanneau, initiator of the project, work is definitively interrupted in 1899.
