Un premier phare fut élevé en 1830. Détruit le 25 août 1944, il fut remplacé provisoirement par une tour métallique. La construction du phare actuel par l'architecte Maurice Durand débuta en 1950 et fut mis en service en 1953. Il est automatisé depuis 1980. Cette tour, à section carrée pyramidale, est en maçonnerie de béton lisse sur soubassement en maçonnerie de pierres apparentes. Elle est entourée de quatre maisons utilisées comme logements de gardiens, salle technique, appentis, grange, réservoirs etc...

History
A first lighthouse was erected in 1830. Destroyed on 25 August 1944, it was temporarily replaced by a metal tower.
