Cet édifice reste une des rares tours résidences qui caractérisaient le paysage urbain de Pernes à l'époque médiévale. La sophistication de la modénature des ouvertures primitives, la qualité de l'appareil en pierre de taille et de sa mise en oeuvre ainsi que la distribution intérieure confèrent à la tour un caractère résidentiel d'apparat. Son histoire remonte au début du 14ème siècle où elle est acquise par la communauté des habitants pour loger la maison de ville. A partir du 16ème siècle, elle est utilisée comme moulin à huile et sert, en partie, de salle du conseil jusqu'en 1619.

History
This building remains one of the rare residential towers which characterised the urban landscape of Pernes in the medieval period. The sophistication of the moulding of the primitive openings, the quality of the dressed stone and its execution as well as the internal distribution confer on the tower a character of stately residence. Its history goes back to the early 14th century when it was acquired by the community of inhabitants to house the town hall. From the 16th century onwards, it was used as an oil mill and served, in part, as a council chamber until 1619.
