La tour fut convertie en auberge aux 17ème et 18ème siècle et devînt un lieu fréquenté par des hôtes prestigieux.

History
The initial function of this square-plan tower is, at present, difficult to identify but nonetheless constitutes a major element of the city's medieval architecture. It is a civil construction of austere and imposing aspect which contrasts with the splendour of its interior execution. Its typology is similar to that of tower houses built by the aristocracy from urban knighthood until the middle of the 13th century as evidenced by the quality of its construction, the height of the building, its positioning along the street front, the raised entrance and the absence of sculptural decoration. The tower was converted into an inn in the 17th and 18th centuries and became a place frequented by prestigious guests.
