Monument commémoratif à Louis Giraud, notaire, maire de Pernes et conseiller général, honoré pour son rôle majeur dans la création du canal d'irrigation de Carpentras. Lancé soixante-dix ans plus tard, en 1924, le monument est réalisé l'année suivante par Marius Saïn. Une figure de fleuve alimentant une fontaine, une paysanne comtadine et divers éléments et morceaux de paysage évoquant les bienfaits du canal accompagnent le grand homme. Initialement en bronze, la statue a été refaite en pierre après la guerre, d'après le modèle initial, par le sculpteur Morin.

History
Commemorative monument to Louis Giraud, notary, mayor of Pernes and general councillor, honoured for his major role in the creation of the Carpentras irrigation canal. Launched seventy years later, in 1924, the monument was made the following year by Marius Saïn. A figure of a river feeding a fountain, a Comtat peasant woman and various elements and pieces of landscape evoking the benefits of the canal accompany the great man. Initially in bronze, the statue was remade in stone after the war, after the original model, by the sculptor Morin.
