History
Erected between 1854 and 1857 to span the Sorgue, the aqueduct bridge of Galas is, with its 13 round-arched openings of 9 metres span, its total length of 159 metres and its height exceeding 24 metres, the most monumental realization of the Carpentras canal. Built in ashlar and rubble stone, it was chosen as the symbol of the entire canal at the official inauguration in 1857.
