Au départ maison des champs, cette villa fut aménagée, au 17e siècle, par son propriétaire, Nicolas-Claude Fabri de Peiresc, grande figure dhumaniste, et est, depuis, considérée comme la première grande bastide provençale classique. Très restaurée aux 18e et 19e siècles, elle conserve dorigine un vestibule et un grand escalier au décor de gypserie dune remarquable singularité.

History
Originally a country house, this villa was fitted out in the 17th century by its owner, Nicolas-Claude Fabri de Peiresc, a major figure of humanism, and has since been considered the first great classical Provençal bastide. Very much restored in the 18th and 19th centuries, it preserves from its origins a vestibule and a grand staircase with decoration of plasterwork of remarkable singularity.
