History
The Judes camp is one of six internment camps opened during the winter of 1939 in order to bring together some of the 500,000 Republican Spanish refugees. Subsequently, it was used for other populations, notably to bring together Jewish families before their deportation. With the Armistice, it became a demobilization centre for foreign volunteers. At liberation, French people accused of collaboration were interned in this camp before its closure.
