L'église fortifiée témoigne des grands conflits qui ont jalonné l'histoire de la région. A l'entrée des gorges du Viaur, elle servait de lieu de refuge et de veille à la communauté de Lagarde. Si son apparence actuelle est attribuable au 15e siècle, une clef de voûte date de la campagne de reconstruction, entre 1661 et 1676. Au début du 19e siècle, l'ensemble de la nef a été décoré par Bosia, peintre albigeois d'origine italienne.

History
The fortified church bears witness to the great conflicts which have marked the history of the region. At the entrance of the gorges of the Viaur, it served as a place of refuge and watch for the community of Lagarde. While its present appearance is attributable to the 15th century, a vault key dates from the reconstruction campaign, between 1661 and 1676. In the early 19th century, the entire nave was decorated by Bosia, a painter from Albi of Italian origin.
