Fruit d'une initiative privée, la chapelle de Bouchavesnes fut érigée en 1923, à proximité d'un vaste cimetière militaire, par la famille du lieutenant Jean du Bos, mort au combat en septembre 1916, sur ce lieu stratégique de la bataille de la Somme. Dès son ouverture, la chapelle acquit une dimension de mémorial, de nombreuses familles de combattants venant s'y recueillir. Elle fut cédée en 1937 au Souvenir français.

Fruit of a private initiative, the chapel of Bouchavesnes was erected in 1923, near a vast military cemetery, by the family of Lieutenant Jean du Bos, killed in combat in September 1916, on this strategic location of the Battle of the Somme. From its opening, the chapel acquired the dimension of a memorial, with many families of combatants coming to pay their respects there. It was ceded in 1937 to the Souvenir français.
