History
In 1865, Napoleon III created the Central Society for the Rescue of Castaways. The Cayeux station was created in 1876. In 1879, the lifeboat shelter was built on Place de l'Amiral Courbet, but the growing success of sea bathing and the development of the seaside resort necessitated the relocation of this shelter in 1913.
