Historique
Monument commémoratif élevé à la gloire de la bataille de Pont-Noyelles, qui eut lieu les 23 et 24 décembre 1870, et où l'armée du Général Faidherbe contînt pendant deux jours les troupes allemandes du Général Von Mantefell. Ce monument a été élevé par souscription publique, grâce à un comité organisé à Amiens au mois de juillet 1872. Cette colonne commémorative fut édifiée près de l'emplacement où Faidherbe avait établi son quartier général. Edmond Duthoit, architecte en chef des Monuments historiques, dirigea les travaux. History
Commemorative monument erected to the glory of the Battle of Pont-Noyelles, which took place on 23 and 24 December 1870, where the army of General Faidherbe contained for two days the German troops of General Von Mantefell. This monument was erected by public subscription, thanks to a committee organized in Amiens in July 1872. This commemorative column was erected near the location where Faidherbe had established his general headquarters. Edmond Duthoit, chief architect of Historic Monuments, directed the works. On this monument can be read the composition of the armies and the motto resurgent primi mors illorum immortalitate plena est.
