History
The construction of this church, in bricks and stone, dates back to the 1840s. The interior decoration is due to the Duthoit brothers (part of the moveable objects composing it is classified). The bell tower was built between 1867 and 1875 on the plans, it is said, of Viollet-le-Duc. It was decapitated during the bombardment of the church in 1918 which also caused the collapse of the monumental dome which gives the building all its originality. Reconstruction work, employing concrete, was undertaken from 1922 onwards and directed by the architect Louis Duthoit.
