Historique
Le logis actuel a été bâti en 1589. Ce dernier forme avec les dépendances une cour rectangulaire entourée de murs et défendue par un bastion au sud-est. L'entrée s'effectue au sud par un porche en plein cintre accompagné d'une porte piétonne surmontée d'un crénelage décoratif. Du logis médiéval subsiste, au nord-ouest, une pièce munie d'une travée de cheminées rustiques du 15e siècle. Le logis du 16e siècle est accolé d'une grosse tour cylindrique à l'angle sud-est. La porte d'entrée en plein cintre est encadrée de pilastres ornés d'oves et son fronton surélevé est percé d'un oeil de boeuf. History
The present main dwelling was built in 1589. This, together with the outbuildings, forms a rectangular courtyard surrounded by walls and defended by a bastion to the south-east. Access is from the south by a round-arch porch accompanied by a pedestrian door topped with decorative crenellation. From the medieval dwelling remains, to the north-west, a room fitted with a bay of rustic chimneys of the 15th century. The 16th-century main dwelling is adjoined by a large cylindrical tower at the south-east angle. The round-arch entrance door is framed by pilasters decorated with ovolo mouldings and its raised gable is pierced by an oeil de boeuf. Puy-Blain is characteristic of these small domains of the late Middle Ages, half seigneurial, half agricultural, numerous in Deux-Sèvres. It presents both defensive elements (tower, bastion, gun embrasure) and residential elements.
