History
This pavilion of the universal exposition of 1878 is the work of English architect Starke Wilkinson who represented the Doulton company, English manufacturer of architectural ceramics. The façade of the pavilion was reassembled and enlarged in the park of Maison-Laffite and a house was built to the rear. The façade is distinguished by large ogival openings in a picturesque medieval style called "gothic revival". Its composition of terracotta and its polychromy testify to the manufacturer's expertise.
