Place créée en 1755 à l'occasion d'une déviation de l'actuelle route nationale 12. La place est contiguë à l'ancien parc au cerfs du château de Pontchartrain, d'où la présence d'un saut-de-loup permettant à l'origine une échappée visuelle sur le paysage. Cet ensemble témoigne de l'irruption d'une forme urbaine en milieu rural au milieu du 18e siècle.

History
Square created in 1755 on the occasion of a diversion of the current national road 12. The square is contiguous to the former deer park of the château de Pontchartrain, hence the presence of a ha-ha originally allowing a visual escape onto the landscape.
