Historique
Venant butter contre le bas-côté nord de l'église (13e siècle), la salle de catéchisme ne communique pas avec les corps voisins mais a pu néanmoins servir autrefois de sacristie. Des peintures murales se déploient sur le mur nord (vierge à l'Enfant dans une mandorle entourée d'anges et de saints ou figures en procession) et sur le mur est (Trône de grâce). Le mur sud était occupé par une vaste toile figurant la Cène, aujourd'hui disparue. Ces peintures sont dues au chanoine Etienne-Léon Jouy, grand érudit seine-et-marnais de la fin du 19e siècle et artiste autodidacte. Ces peintures illustrent une catéchèse en accord avec les préoccupations qui pouvaient nourrir un aumônier pénétré de ses responsabilités, doublé d'un artiste revendiquant la tradition gothique dans sa volonté d'instruire, d'édifier et d'intéresser.

History
Abutting against the north aisle of the church (13th century), the catechism room does not communicate with the neighbouring buildings but may nevertheless have formerly served as a sacristy. Mural paintings unfold on the north wall (Virgin and Child in a mandorla surrounded by angels and saints or figures in procession) and on the east wall (Throne of Grace). The south wall was occupied by a vast canvas depicting the Last Supper, now disappeared. These paintings are the work of canon Etienne-Léon Jouy, a great scholar of Seine-et-Marne from the end of the 19th century and a self-taught artist. These paintings illustrate a catechesis in keeping with the concerns that could nourish a chaplain steeped in his responsibilities, combined with an artist claiming the Gothic tradition in his desire to instruct, edify and interest.
