Historique
Ce phare est une uvre des architectes rouennais Herr, Dumenil et François et fut édifié de 1950 à 1953. La tour tronconique, en pierre de taille, présente un plan carré. Elle se termine par un couvrement saillant à balustrade portant le cylindre métallique, qui forme la lanterne. L'intérieur est accessible par un bâtiment-porche au pignon orné des symboles des phares. Un escalier suspendu en pierre calcaire donne sur la salle des Veille traitée en coursive, puis la lanterne où se trouve l'optique à focale, en verre taillé, à lampe à halogène. Entre 1960 et 1964, ont été construits, contre la tour, le bâtiment technique ainsi que la maison du gardien. History
This lighthouse is a work of the Rouen architects Herr, Dumenil and François and was built from 1950 to 1953. The truncated conical tower, in dressed stone, presents a square plan. It ends with a projecting covering with balustrade bearing the metal cylinder, which forms the lantern. The interior is accessible by a porch building with a gable adorned with the symbols of lighthouses. A suspended staircase in limestone stone opens onto the Watch room treated as a walkway, then the lantern where the focal-length optical element in cut glass with halogen lamp is found. Between 1960 and 1964, against the tower were built the technical building as well as the keeper's house. The lighthouse of Ailly is connected to an old maritime signalling site (late 18th century) and remains today one of the most powerful in the Channel.
