Historique

History
Following the destruction of the church by bombing in 1944, a reconstruction project, proposed by architect Otello Zavaroni, was adopted in 1959. The new building, completed in 1961, consists of a rectangular nave with a single volume, in concrete, covered with a flat roof with a semi-circular choir pierced with small openings. The south wall is treated as a claustra with glass panels and cabochons. The north wall is preceded by a gallery. The bell tower is open-work, in the form of a tuning fork. The form of the building and its material reference to the war. The author borrowed from bunkers to design a religious symbol. The irregular plan, the use of the curve, the rounded edges of the roof, testify to the influence of Le Corbusier.
