Cette église est dédiée à Saint-Saire (ou Salve) , missionnaire du 7e siècle. L'édifice actuel fut bâti au début du 12e siècle sur l'emplacement d'un monastère détruit lors des invasions normandes. Le clocher-porche en grès ferrugineux a été ajouté au 13e siècle. Les Boulainvilliers, seigneurs de Saint-Saire, ont fait bénéficier l'édifice de leurs libéralités : on leur doit en particulier les remaniements de la crypte, la chapelle seigneuriale, ainsi que la reprise de l'ensemble des baies de l'église, en 1682. Vers 1780, l'abbé Laindet a remodelé les bas-côtés et fait ouvrir les grandes arcades qui les met en communication avec le choeur. Un incendie en 1867 a nécessité une nouvelle campagne de restauration.

History
This church is dedicated to Saint-Saire (or Salve), a missionary of the 7th century. The present edifice was built in the early 12th century on the site of a monastery destroyed during the Norman invasions. The porch tower in ferruginous sandstone was added in the 13th century. The Boulainvilliers, lords of Saint-Saire, bestowed their generosity on the edifice: we owe to them in particular the alterations to the crypt, the seigneurial chapel, as well as the overhaul of all the openings of the church, in 1682. Around 1780, Abbé Laindet remodeled the aisles and opened up the great arcades which put them in communication with the choir. A fire in 1867 necessitated a new campaign of restoration.
