Premier embarcadère construit entre 1838 et 1840 par l'architecte F. Gallet et l'ingénieur Jullien. Gare démolie et reconstruite de 1862 à 1869 sur de plus vastes proportions par l'architecte Renaud (élève de Vaudoyer) et l'ingénieur Sevene. Avant-corps central décoré de deux figures monumentales réalisées par le sculpteur Elias Robert : l'Agriculture et l'Industrie. Halle métallique conçue selon le système de Polonceau, plus vaste que celles des gares Saint-Lazare ou du Nord et réalisée par les usines Schneider du Creusot.
