En 1907, le Groupe des maisons ouvrières acquiert le terrain de l'ancienne congrégation des dames dominicaines pour y installer un hôtel populaire destiné aux hommes. La construction en est confiée à l'architecte Auguste Labussière. En 1926, l'Armée du Salut rachète l'édifice pour en faire une résidence pour jeunes femmes. Au rez-de-chaussée se situent les espaces collectifs (restaurant, salon de thé, salle de lecture) ayant conservé l'essentiel de leurs décors d'origine. Cinq niveaux de chambres sont distribués autour de cours intérieures.

History
In 1907, the Group of workers' houses acquires the land of the former congregation of Dominican ladies to install a popular hotel intended for men. Construction is entrusted to the architect Auguste Labussière. In 1926, the Salvation Army buys back the edifice to make it a residence for young women. On the ground floor are located the collective spaces (restaurant, tea room, reading room) having preserved the essential part of their original decoration. Five levels of rooms are distributed around interior courtyards.
