L'hôtel des Cendres a été construit, en 1866, pour la Société des Cendres, organisme créé en 1859 par des bijoutiers orfèvres. L'édifice se compose d'un bâtiment sur rue, en pierre de taille, affecté aux bureaux, et, à l'arrière, d'une grande halle rectangulaire couverte d'une charpente métallique, qui abritait les ateliers. Le sous-sol était occupé par des grandes meules en fonte et des hauts fourneaux.

History
The Hôtel des Cendres was built, in 1866, for the Société des Cendres, an organization created in 1859 by jewellers and goldsmiths. The building is composed of a building on the street, in cut stone, used for offices, and, at the rear, a large rectangular hall covered with a metal roof structure, which housed the workshops. The basement was occupied by large cast-iron grinding wheels and furnaces.
