Historique
Immeuble construit en 1912 par Frantz Jourdain pour le compte d'Ernest Cognacq, patron de la Samaritaine. Le bâtiment abritait des appartements et les locaux administratifs de l'organisme de crédit de la Samaritaine, La Semeuse de Paris, qui permettait aux moins favorisés d'acquérir des biens de consommation. Formes longilignes et protubérances typiques du Modern'style, utilisant au-dessus de l'entresol le système du bow-window intégré dans la structure de l'ensemble et élevé jusqu'au 4e étage. Les ébrasements supérieurs des fenêtres de l'entresol sont ornés d'éléments de grès Bigot insérés dans du mortier. L'ascenseur et sa cage ont conservé en grande partie leur décor d'origine (vitraux de Francis Jourdain fils). La façade côté cour présente une polychromie de céramique.

History
Building constructed in 1912 by Frantz Jourdain for Ernest Cognacq, proprietor of the Samaritaine. The building housed apartments and the administrative premises of the Samaritaine's credit organization, La Semeuse de Paris, which allowed the less fortunate to acquire consumer goods. Elongated forms and protuberances typical of Modern'style, using above the mezzanine the system of the bow-window integrated into the structure of the whole and raised up to the 4th storey. The upper splays of the mezzanine windows are adorned with elements of Bigot stoneware inserted in mortar. The lift and its cage have largely retained their original decoration (stained glass by Francis Jourdain the younger). The façade on the court side presents a polychrome of ceramic.
