Historique

History
This site is part of the lake-dwelling settlements studied in the Rhône-Alpes region containing the remains of human occupation in wetland environments, of habitat as well as the support piles of wooden buildings, still visible. These testimonies ranging from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age constitute one of the great themes of European prehistory. The Marais site dates to the Middle Neolithic (38th century BC). It was discovered in 1989 following an impact study. The study of the artefacts but also of the natural environment allowed a good reconstitution of the occupation of the shoreline.
