Château-du-Loir se trouvait jadis à l'intersection des lignes Le Mans-Tours, ouverte par la compagnie « Paris-Orléans » en 1858 et «Paris-Bordeaux par l'Etat », ouverte en 1886. Le réseau de l'Etat fit édifier trois rotondes à Chartres, Château-du-Loir/Montabon et Thouars. Victimes des bombardements de la guerre de 1939-1945 ou de la modernisation des réseaux SNCF, la rotonde de Montabon, mise en service en 1891, est aujourd'hui la dernière à présenter des dispositions cohérentes et aussi proches de l'état d'origine.

History
Château-du-Loir was formerly located at the intersection of the lines Le Mans-Tours, opened by the "Paris-Orléans" company in 1858 and "Paris-Bordeaux by the State", opened in 1886. The State network had three roundhouses built at Chartres, Château-du-Loir/Montabon and Thouars. Victims of the bombings of the 1939-1945 war or of the modernization of the SNCF networks, the Montabon roundhouse, put into service in 1891, is today the last to present coherent arrangements and also as close to the original state.
