Le monument se compose dun vaste mur architecturé en gros blocs appareillés. Devant ce mur, une figure allégorique de la ville de Mâcon, les bras écartés, protège ses enfants tombés au combat. Drapée à lantique, elle est armée dune épée et se tient contre les armes de la ville. Au sommet figure en lettres métalliques linscription Mâcon à ses enfants morts pour la France. Un rameau de chêne est présent à larrière de la figure allégorique, de même quune branche dolivier dans sa main.

History
The memorial consists of a vast wall structured in large dressed blocks. In front of this wall, an allegorical figure of the city of Mâcon, with arms outstretched, protects her children fallen in combat. Draped in the antique manner, she is armed with a sword and stands against the arms of the city. At the top appears in metal letters the inscription Mâcon to her children who died for France.
